There are plenty of BMWs that sell on want. The 225i Active Tourer, with its far from exciting exterior and less than hardcore handling, isn't one them.
It does, though, score hit after hit on the rational side of its scorecard, from its robust value, quality feel and spacious, versatile cabin to its frisky performance and decent frugality. It's probably better to drive than most of the SUVs it matches for practicality.
So a very well-rounded but not particularly loveable car, then, and one BMW traditionalists will grumble into their beverages about. But if you attach greater weight to value and day-to-day versatility than impressing bystanders or tearing up back roads you won't find it easy to dismiss.
