Mazda CX-5 Body Design
The Mazda CX-5 retains virtually all of the Minagi’s styling cues and body lines, and the look is nicely tailored and well executed. But stripping away the show-car glitz—specifically the aluminum-look accents to the grille, fog-light surrounds, and window line, and the shiny, black-painted molding—makes the final product look, well, bland and a bit less upscale in comparison.
Mazda CX-5 Interior Design
The driver's side, especially the meter hood, has a deep, longitudinally stretched design that resembles a cockpit and produces a sense of forward momentum. On the passenger side, the instrument panel looks ample and solid, with a horizontal design that generates a sense of security. Parts that are used most often, like the steering wheels spokes and inner door handles, have a satin chrome finish, which enhances the high-quality, genuine feel of the interior.

The Mazda CX-5 will be offered with Mazda’s new Skyactiv-G 2.0-liter gasoline engine and Skyactiv-D 2.2-liter diesel in multiple iterations with various outputs. Both automatic and manual transmissions are on the menu.
The SKYACTIV-G 2.0 petrol engine models have the world highest compression ratio of 14.0:1, and their 4-2-1 exhaust system prevents knocking and provides abundant torque from low engine speeds, enabling acceleration that precisely matches the driver's intention. The SKYACTIV-D 2.2 diesel engine models have the world's lowest compression ratio for a diesel engine of 14.0:1, and a highly efficient two-stage turbocharger that delivers spirited and linear acceleration and exhilarating driving dynamics that surpass conventional diesel-engine vehicles. They also achieve outstanding fuel economy for a compact SUV with extremely clean emissions that clear Euro6 without the need of any NOx after-treatment systems.
