The new Porsche 911 Carrera is classic sports car generation. Almost 90 per cent of all components have been redesigned or redeveloped. With its all-new lightweight body, further drivetrain efficiencies and new suspension systems, the Coupé offers the driver improved Porsche Intelligent Performance. This manifests itself in yet further enhanced driving dynamics, up to 16 per cent lower fuel consumption and emissions combined with even greater everyday practicality.

Porsche 911 Carrera Body Design

The new Porsche Carrera 911 has a flat stretched silhouette, exciting contours, and precisely designed details. The vehicle’s body is constructed of aluminum-steel and provides the Porsche with a weight reductions of up to 45kg (or about 99 lbs). The weight reduction is matched up with aerodynamic optimization, providing reduced lift while retaining a good coefficient of drag value. An example of the aerodynamic changes is the new wider, variably extending rear spoiler.

Porsche 911 Carrera Interior

The new Porsche Carrera 911 design provides an environment that is more driver-focused. The center console has been moved up to the front with the high mounted shift lever or gear selector. These elements are located especially close to the steering wheel as is typical in motorsport.

The classic instrument still finds its way into the 911and includes five round instruments to guide the way. The main components of the instrument cluster include a high resolution, multi-function screen, a central rev counter, and an ignition lock to the left of the steering wheel.

Porsche 911 Carrera Performance

Porsche 911 Carrera: 350 hp (257kW) 3.4-litre boxer engine; rear-wheel drive, seven-speed manual transmission, optional seven-speed Porsche-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK); acceleration 0 - 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 4.8 seconds, with PDK in 4.6 seconds (4.4 seconds with Sport Chrono Package); top speed 289 km/h (179.6 mph), with PDK 287 km/h (178.3 mph); fuel consumption (NEDC) 9.0 l/100 km, CO2 212 g/km; with PDK 8.2 l/100 km; CO2 194 g/km.

The Porsche 911 Carrera S, on the the other hand, will continue on with its 3.8-liter flat-six with direct injection engine, but its power has been raised to 400 HP. This, plus the PDK, allows the Carrera S a 0-62 mph sprint time of 4.3 seconds (an improvement of 0.2 seconds). That improvement increases when the setup is matched up with the Sport Chrono Package, leaving a 0-62 mph time of 4.1 seconds.
